Job Overview
The Biology Laboratory Educational Assistant role within the Natural Sciences Department offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a laboratory environment. This position focuses on understanding safety protocols, utilizing lab equipment, and preparing solutions while thriving in a dynamic professional setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to and promote laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Assist faculty and students with technical issues during class sessions.
  • Prepare necessary equipment, solutions, and materials for biology labs.
  • Review lab manuals and established protocols.
  • Familiarize oneself with student experiments to provide troubleshooting support.
  • Set up and dismantle biology labs on a regular schedule.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization in classrooms and lab preparation areas.
  • Demonstrate leadership by mentoring new lab aides.
  • Support professors with safety checks and food inspections prior to lab sessions.
  • Handle the lifting and unpacking of supplies.
  • Assist with the operation of instructor computers and projectors.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and treat all individuals with respect.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a diverse team.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Required: A genuine interest in biological sciences and some prior work experience in any field. Candidates must be currently enrolled students at Santa Fe College, maintaining good academic and behavioral standing while taking six (6) or more credit hours.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be performed.

Preferred: Students who have successfully completed laboratory coursework.
