Overview:
The Bronson Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (BADDL) in collaboration with the Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine at the University of Florida-College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time position as a Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Veterinary Microbiology. This role also encompasses responsibilities as the Microbiology Co-Department Head (Virology and Molecular Biology) at BADDL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all diagnostic and regulatory testing within the Virology and Molecular Sections at BADDL, serving as a technical expert in veterinary microbiology.
- Supervise virology and molecular biology sections, ensuring adherence to quality assurance and quality control protocols.
- Maintain operational standards and develop test methodologies for diagnostic procedures.
- Conduct analyses and troubleshoot laboratory tasks, particularly in Electron Microscopy.
- Prepare detailed reports on viral and bacterial agents, providing consultation to submitting veterinarians.
- Participate in departmental committees and contribute to university service through professional organizations and continuing education.
- Engage in research and grant opportunities that benefit the laboratory and Florida's animal industry.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree along with a PhD in a relevant field. Board eligibility or certification from ACVM is required, alongside experience in diagnostic virology and/or molecular biology.
Preferred Skills:
Independently signing out cases is preferred. Opportunities for teaching and research may be available based on the candidate's qualifications and interests.
