Clinical Professor of Veterinary Microbiology

The University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional for the role of Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Veterinary Microbiology. This position will also include responsibilities as the Microbiology Co-Department Head, overseeing the Virology and Molecular Biology sections at the Bronson Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (BADDL).
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Diagnostic Expertise:** Serve as a diagnostic microbiologist, managing a diverse caseload involving companion animals, livestock, avian, and wildlife species. Engage with veterinarians and animal owners to provide high-quality diagnostic services.
2. **Leadership Role:** Oversee all diagnostic and regulatory testing within the Virology and Molecular Biology sections, ensuring compliance with quality assurance protocols.
3. **Mentorship and Training:** Provide guidance and training to staff, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring adherence to established procedures.
4. **Research and Development:** Engage in research activities, exploring new methodologies for the identification of pathogens and contributing to scientific literature.
5. **Community Engagement:** Participate in university and public service through committee work and professional organizations, enhancing the reputation of the department and laboratory.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent degree along with a PhD in a relevant field. Board eligibility or certification from the ACVM is required, along with substantial experience in diagnostic virology and molecular biology.
Preferred Attributes:
Candidates who can independently manage cases and have a proven track record in securing research funding will be highly regarded. Opportunities for teaching and research collaboration may be available based on individual qualifications and interests.
