JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The Recovery Support Technician II is responsible for providing peer support to individuals in recovery.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE FOR THIS ROLE:

High School Graduate or GED; Kentucky Certified peer support specialist preferred; Valid Kentucky Driver's License and current automobile insurance required. Preferred candidates will have 2 years of demonstrated, successful, sustained recovery. Familiarity with MS Office is essential, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. The individual must possess an understanding of and respect for each person's unique recovery journey. A solid working knowledge of the substance use treatment system and a demonstrated commitment to the recovery community is crucial. The Recovery Specialist's role is to support individuals recovering from substance use disorders, serving as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to help prevent relapse and encourage long-term recovery. The Recovery Specialist must be able to share personal recovery experiences and foster authentic peer-to-peer relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain project logs, reports, and records in appropriate files and databases.

2. Provide recovery education to service recipients throughout every phase of the recovery journey, from pre-recovery engagement to sustained recovery maintenance.

3. Serve as a model for both individuals in recovery and staff, demonstrating that recovery is achievable.

4. Assist recovering individuals in identifying their personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery.

5. Coach recovering individuals in developing their own plans for advancing their recovery and achieving their desired life outcomes.

6. Facilitate the transition from a professionally directed service plan to a self-directed Recovery Plan through personal coaching.

7. Promote self-advocacy by ensuring that recovering individuals' voices are heard and their needs, goals, and objectives are prioritized in rehabilitation and clinical services.

8. Actively identify and support connections to community resources that align with the recovering individual's goals and interests, collaborating with agency staff and other stakeholders.

9. Support connections to community-based mutual self-help groups and link individuals to appropriate professional resources as needed.

10. Develop relationships with community groups and agencies in partnership with others in the organization.

11. As the Recovery Specialist position evolves, accompany recovering individuals to community resources to familiarize them with potential opportunities.

12. Identify barriers to full participation in community resources and devise strategies to overcome those challenges.

13. Maintain contact with recovering individuals after they leave the program to ensure ongoing success and provide re-engagement support as needed.

14. Perform other duties as directed by Executive Director and/or Management Staff.

15. Develop, implement, and promote ongoing community training opportunities.
