Job Overview

Position Summary

The Educational Program Developer is responsible for the design, planning, execution, and coordination of training and educational initiatives aligned with grant objectives. This role includes managing budgetary aspects related to the grant.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the curriculum and instructional strategies under the grant, facilitating both in-person and virtual learning experiences.
  2. Develop, plan, and implement specialized curricula for Career Pathway models to fulfill grant requirements.
  3. Provide coaching to instructors and enhance the overall delivery of grant-funded programs, ensuring adherence to current Texas AEL Content Standards and Career Pathways guidance.
  4. Investigate innovative training and educational methodologies, proposing improvements to grant initiatives.
  5. Establish and nurture collaborative partnerships with various organizations and stakeholders.
  6. Identify subject matter experts and supervise the creation of curricula for training and educational programs mandated by the grant.
  7. Achieve monthly grant deliverables for oneself and team members.
  8. Devise and implement marketing strategies to promote the grant initiatives.
  9. Manage the execution of programs and courses, including trainer selection, logistical coordination, and regular client communication.
  10. Conduct continuous assessments and evaluations of program quality and effectiveness.
  11. Ensure compliance with financial and programmatic requirements of the grants.
  12. Contribute to the preparation of grant applications, contracts, and proposals.
  13. Oversee the tracking and reporting of training metrics, contact hours, and programmatic and financial data as required by the grant.
  14. Coordinate and participate in grant audits.
  15. Engage in the selection and evaluation process for staff and instructors, including classroom observations.
  16. Serve as a trainer when necessary and as directed by management.
  17. Travel as needed within the college district.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Information

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
  2. A minimum of two years of experience with grants is essential.
  3. At least two years of experience in adult education or ESL instruction at any educational level is required.
  4. Experience in training, program development, and/or supervision is preferred.
Essential Skills and Abilities
  1. Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as internet research capabilities.
  3. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks while paying attention to detail.
  5. Adaptability to changing environments and high-pressure situations.
  6. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary; must have reliable transportation.
  7. Commitment to the mission and vision of South Texas College.
  8. Ability to interpret safety regulations and procedural documents.
  9. Competence in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  10. Effective public speaking skills for addressing groups.
  11. Problem-solving abilities in diverse situations.
  12. Capability to follow varied instructions presented in different formats.
Additional Requirements

  2. Must possess or be eligible for a valid Texas driver's license and liability insurance.
Physical Demands
  1. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently.
  2. Capability to bend and perceive attributes of objects through touch.
  3. Ability to type and perform tasks primarily with fingers.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively and make rational decisions.
  5. Ability to sit for extended periods and perform tasks requiring close visual acuity.
  6. Mobility to complete tasks across various locations.
