Job Summary

The City of Augusta GA is seeking a highly skilled Building Inspector to join our team. As a Building Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting on-site inspections of commercial and residential buildings to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of buildings to identify code violations and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Issue warnings and correction notices to property owners and contractors for code violations.
  • Review plans and specifications for new construction and modifications to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with contractors, architects, and engineers to resolve code issues and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and code enforcement activities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to obtain ICC Certification for inspections within 12 months of hire date.
  • Three to nine years of experience in construction, including building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, including International and National Codes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ICC Certification for inspections.
  • Experience with building inspection software and equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
