Job Summary

The City of Augusta GA is seeking a highly skilled Fire Plans Reviewer to join our team. As a Fire Plans Reviewer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that all proposed construction documents comply with local, state, and federal building codes, policies, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret building and structural construction documents to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Work with builders, owners, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve code-related issues and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct life safety reviews, fire site reviews, and fire structural reviews to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Research and provide guidance on new methods and materials to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, policies, and regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Fire Science/Technology, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in building design, construction document preparation, plan review, code analysis, building inspections, construction, systems review, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain ICC Building Plans Examiner, ICC Fire Plans Examiner, NFPA Certified Plan Examiner, or ICC Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner Certification within one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with International Codes and city ordinances.
  • Knowledge of fire safety and life safety principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
