Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct a team of building inspectors and code enforcement officers to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Review and approve building plans and permits to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for building code enforcement and compliance.
  • Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to building inspectors and code enforcement officers on building codes and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with builders, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in building code enforcement and compliance, including lead or supervisory experience.
  • Four ICC certifications, including Building Plans Examiner, Commercial Building Inspector, and one Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Inspector Certification.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with building information modeling (BIM) and other construction technology.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
