Technical Services Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Lead initiatives focused on aluminum material specifications and qualifications.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide expert leadership in the ongoing development of aluminum materials, ensuring adherence to specifications and qualifications.
  • Collaborative Development: Identify opportunities for joint projects with suppliers to enhance material performance and efficiency through innovative surfaces.
  • Trial Coordination: Manage and oversee trials in collaboration with production facilities and suppliers, ensuring effective execution of trial activities.
  • Performance Improvement: Support continuous enhancement of plant operations by offering hands-on technical assistance and sharing best practices.
  • Quality Issue Resolution: Assist the Food Division and Technical Center in investigating and resolving metal-related quality and performance challenges.
  • Supplier Engagement: Organize and facilitate technical discussions between Crown Holdings and its suppliers.
  • Audit Participation: Engage in supplier audits to ensure compliance and quality standards.
  • Travel Requirements: Be prepared for travel, which may reach up to 50% during peak trial activities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in engineering, materials science, metallurgy, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in materials development, metal manufacturing, packaging production, or a comparable industry.
  • Familiarity with aluminum, tinplate/steel, and/or tooling materials, including their bulk and surface properties, is highly advantageous.
  • Proven track record of managing projects to successful completion while collaborating with various departments.
  • Self-driven and proactive, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with suppliers and colleagues at all organizational levels.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management capabilities.
  • Proficient in PC applications is essential.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Knowledge or certification in Six Sigma is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may need to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment

  • Job duties will be performed in both a plant environment and an office setting.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic may occur.
  • May encounter a wide range of temperatures.
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise levels.
