POSITION OVERVIEW:

Northeastern Illinois University Libraries is seeking a dedicated and experienced Library Technical Services Manager for a full-time, twelve-month faculty role within a collaborative environment.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage library systems pertinent to technical services.
  • Conduct intricate original and adaptive cataloging across various formats.
  • Assist in developing and supervising unit processes for authority control, database upkeep, and catalog improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Services Team to evaluate policies and procedures across all technical service units.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of 4.0 FTE technical services personnel.
  • Coordinate activities of other Technical Services roles within the library.
  • Generate collection statistics related to the addition and removal of physical volumes for institutional reporting.
  • Oversee library system data management and cleanup, ensuring adherence to national and consortium standards.
  • Fulfill subject liaison responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree from an ALA accredited program and an additional master's degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in technical services, including acquisitions, cataloging, and e-resource management.
  • Recent supervisory experience managing technical service units.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current standards and best practices in technical services.
  • Professional experience in cataloging across multiple formats.
  • Familiarity with acquisitions processes and vendor relations.
  • Experience with integrated library systems and library automation.
  • Strong computer skills and a proven record in policy development and training.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with cataloging and acquisitions in the Ex Libris Alma system.
  • Management experience in a broadly defined technical services unit.
  • Experience in an academic library and within a consortium setting.
  • Reading proficiency in a foreign language.
  • Subject expertise in music and/or performing arts.
  • Experience in music cataloging.
