Control Systems Engineer

OVERVIEW: PRC Resources is seeking an Automation Engineer with expertise in water treatment systems. This role is essential for the design, implementation, and upkeep of automated solutions that enhance the functionality of water treatment facilities. You will work alongside various teams to guarantee the effective and dependable operation of water treatment processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure a safe working environment by actively engaging in safety initiatives and identifying hazards.
- Program DANFOSS AQUA DRIVE SYSTEMS.
- Develop and manage HMI systems using FactoryTalk and Wonderware.
- Troubleshoot and repair control systems, instrumentation, analyzers, and electrical equipment.
- Adapt control logic to accommodate changes in equipment or operational conditions.
- Update and maintain standard operating procedures as necessary.
- Review equipment startup and shutdown protocols to ensure safety compliance.
- Act as the controls subject matter expert during meetings and audits.
- Create action plans to align facilities with relevant regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share insights and promote consistency across the organization.
- Conduct research and cost/benefit analyses on new technologies or processes for potential application.
- Assist in establishing best practices within the plant and field environments.
- Utilize various shop tools and specialized testing equipment during machine installation or maintenance.
- Conduct evaluation tests on valves, motors, instruments, and related equipment.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in process instrumentation and electrical maintenance within a water treatment context.
- Expertise in troubleshooting 120-volt AC controls, 480-volt motors, and switchgear.
- Proficient in interpreting loop drawings, schematics, ladder logic, electrical one-line diagrams, and P&I drawings.
- Experience in maintaining process control loops, electronic controls, valves, and transmitters.
- Familiarity with SLC 500/5000 and Compact/Micro Logix systems.
- Working knowledge of standard process software.
- Availability for overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Willingness to travel to support operational needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Physical capabilities include lifting up to 40 lbs, climbing ladders and stairs, and the ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
- Rockwell PLC certifications are highly desirable.
