Position Overview

Audubon Companies is actively looking for a Control Systems Specialist to enhance our team. This role involves executing fundamental automation engineering tasks related to the design of equipment, components, structures, or systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the deployment of control systems and DCS/PLC/SCADA programming on projects related to the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Engage in system specification, design, architecture, and development.
  • Create standard sketches and conduct basic engineering calculations for project tasks.
  • Evaluate vendor drawings to ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
  • Monitor and maintain awareness of project schedules and budgets.
  • Follow company quality standards and adhere to engineering review and approval processes.
  • Comply with all health, safety, security, and environmental standards as well as federal and local regulations.
  • Actively participate in hazard identification and reporting programs, ensuring unsafe acts or conditions are reported to supervisors.
  • Collaborate with the drafting/design team to create and review engineering drawings.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and conditions.
  • Inspect vendor facilities to ensure equipment meets specifications.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and bid evaluations related to equipment procurement.
  • Perform preliminary checks on engineering drawings and calculations.
  • Adhere to safe design practices while identifying opportunities for cost savings.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Degree from an ABET Accredited Institution is preferred.
  • Experience in configuring control systems for Oil and Gas projects is essential.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various aspects of Automation, including PLC, DCS, SCADA/HMI, SIS, Electrical Design, and Instrumentation.
  • Experience in Design and Industrial IT.
  • Hands-on experience with the configuration of automation systems, including process control systems and safety instrumented systems.
  • Automation System training or certification is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of instrument and electrical design codes (ISA, NEC, API, etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to proactively address work-related challenges.
  • Capacity to comprehend instructions and seek clarification when necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Understanding of plant processes in the Oil and Gas industry and basic unit operations to assist in designing process control strategies.
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible for code implementation, system simulation, operator training, and commissioning support.
While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to use their hands for various tasks, reach with arms, and communicate verbally. The role may involve standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.
