Position Overview

This role provides a unique opportunity to collaborate within a project team of engineers and designers dedicated to the design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for oil and gas facilities. You will also contribute to the design of power generation plants and various industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in complex assignments that involve investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving a diverse range of electrical engineering challenges.
  • Assist the project lead in ensuring that projects are completed effectively, on schedule, and within financial constraints.
  • Support the project lead in coordinating design activities to guarantee compliance with specifications, codes, and client expectations.
  • Conduct and review detailed calculations, including three-phase power transient analyses, voltage drop assessments, and protective relay settings.
  • Prepare documentation to facilitate drawing production.
  • Collaborate with vendors to develop materials and equipment purchase specifications for client recommendations.
  • Generate reports and studies that clearly present technical information in alignment with client requirements and S&L standards.
  • Perform independent evaluations of work completed by peers, including calculations and drawing preparations.
  • Act as a mentor to foster the development of junior engineers.
Work Environment

This position operates on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance three days a week.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited program is required; a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the design of power plants or industrial facilities, with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new projects or modifications to existing ones in the oil and gas sector.
  • Proficiency in selecting equipment, materials, control philosophies, and the preparation of calculations and specifications.
  • Experience in electrical system design, including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), communication systems, equipment selection, and analytical calculations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for effective systems design.
  • Experience serving as a liaison between the firm and clients in a support or lead engineering capacity.
  • Ability to review design calculations and drawings produced by other engineers.
  • This position may require occasional travel.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in construction and start-up processes is advantageous.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
