Position Overview

We welcome candidates from various locations. The Analyst will collaborate closely with the Local Government Teams to fulfill their duties. This role requires support for multiple regional teams, including the Eastern, Southwest, Midwest, and Western Local Government Teams. The Analyst will have the chance to work alongside analysts and senior team members on credit assessments, portfolio management, and related tasks, necessitating flexibility and adaptability to engage with a wide array of local governments and public finance trends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting comprehensive credit assessments of individual local governments and specific rated obligations.
  • Presenting analytical insights and recommendations to rating committees.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the team's portfolio of ratings through both broad and focused credit reviews.
  • Contributing to Moody's overall public finance risk evaluations.
  • Producing in-depth research reports and timely commentary on market developments.
  • Engaging professionally with government officials, financial intermediaries, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Addressing inquiries from investors and the media.
  • Representing the team at industry conferences and meetings.
  • Providing mentorship to junior analysts.
Qualifications
  • Three to five years of experience in public finance or a related discipline.
  • A strong academic background; a graduate degree in public policy, public administration, economics, or business is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated quantitative skills and analytical proficiency.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, with a talent for conveying complex concepts clearly and succinctly.
  • Understanding of local government budgeting, accounting, and financial practices, along with awareness of the economic, financial, and political challenges faced by local governments.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to form independent opinions while supporting Moody's consensus views.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings with issuers and other market participants, as well as to attend conferences.
Compensation and Benefits

For US-based roles, the anticipated salary range for this position is between $113,800 and $192,950, influenced by factors such as experience, education, skills, and location. This role is also eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with both employee and company contributions, life and disability insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
