Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Analyst to join our Public Finance Group. This role is open to candidates in various locations and involves close collaboration with Local Government Teams. The Analyst will engage with multiple regions, including the Eastern, Southwest, Midwest, and Western Local Government Teams, contributing to credit analysis and portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting comprehensive credit evaluations of local governments and their rated obligations.
  • Presenting analytical insights to rating committees.
  • Participating in credit reviews to maintain the integrity of the team's portfolio.
  • Contributing to Moody's public finance risk assessments.
  • Producing in-depth research reports and timely market commentary.
  • Engaging professionally with government officials, financial intermediaries, and investors.
  • Responding to inquiries from investors and the media.
  • Representing the team at industry conferences and meetings.
  • Providing mentorship to junior analysts.
Qualifications
  • Three to five years of experience in public finance or a related field.
  • Strong academic credentials, preferably with a graduate degree in public policy, public administration, economics, or business.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.
  • Understanding of local government finance, budgeting, and economic challenges.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to form independent opinions.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings and conferences.
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary, this role includes eligibility for incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
