Compensation:

The pay rate for this position ranges from $25.00 to $45.00 per hour.

Position Summary:

The role involves active participation in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and operate equipment at wastewater treatment plants, including pumps, valves, motors, blowers, and chemical feed systems. Perform minor repairs, collect samples, conduct tests, and maintain records. Adjust chemical treatments as necessary.
  • Conduct routine water testing and document all results accurately.
  • Monitor charts, gauges, and other operational equipment. Calculate and calibrate chemical feed rates based on laboratory tests or instructions.
  • Engage in treatment processes, perform laboratory analyses, and maintain all plant equipment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all plant records and reports.
  • Assist regulatory representatives during inspections of the facility.
  • Respond to and manage accidental releases of hazardous materials, and perform confined space entries as required.
  • Regularly observe pump and motor operations, maintaining daily logs and entering data into computer systems.

Work Environment:

  • Employees may be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions, including high temperatures.
  • The noise level in the workplace is typically moderate.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Water and Wastewater Treatment is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate electric motors powered by gasoline, diesel, or gaseous fuels, and to use hand tools effectively.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with team members, management, clients, and vendors.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures in maintenance and operations.

Certifications:

  • Preferred SWRCB Grade II or higher Wastewater/Water Treatment Certification as required by the facility.
  • A valid California Driver's license is mandatory.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to communicate effectively.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, sit, and use hands for various tasks.
  • May need to lift 10-20 pounds regularly and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include the ability to distinguish colors and see both close and distant objects.
