Compensation:

The salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $90,000 annually.

Position Summary:

The Process Optimization Engineer is responsible for conducting engineering tasks focused on process optimization and providing expertise in process control. This role includes managing small to mid-scale projects in collaboration with operations, maintenance, clients, and third parties. The engineer will ensure optimal plant performance and adherence to water quality standards by developing and implementing effective process control management systems. Key responsibilities include collecting and organizing process data and equipment maintenance records, reviewing process data, and making necessary adjustments to process control orders and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate pilot plant activities with clients, consultants, and steering committees, including drafting meeting agendas and maintaining minutes.
  • Oversee daily operations of pilot test units.
  • Conduct field data collection and sampling.
  • Organize and normalize process data for analysis.
  • Identify trends in process data and present findings in reports and presentations.
  • Manage chemical batching and dosage adjustments.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance aligns with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Supervise maintenance staff as needed.
  • Prepare routine performance reports documenting treatment efficiency, production levels, and associated costs.
  • Adhere to safe work practices for assigned tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

  • Regular exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, unpleasant odors, airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions, outdoor weather, and vibrations.
  • Moderate noise levels in the work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Relevant work or internship experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of principles and operations of water or wastewater treatment processes and related equipment, including microfiltration and reverse osmosis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, or Visio.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and eager to learn with the ability to work independently.
  • Capable of interpreting equipment operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting data to audiences.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Availability for after-hours call-outs and flexible work schedules.

Certifications:

  • EIT certification is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to communicate effectively.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, sitting, and using hands for various tasks.
  • May regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include color distinction and close and distance vision.
  • Personal protective equipment such as steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hard hats will be provided and must be worn.
