Compensation:

The pay range for this position is between $25.00 and $45.00 per hour.

Position Summary:

The role involves active participation in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor equipment at wastewater treatment plants, including pumps, valves, motors, and chemical feed systems. Perform minor repairs, collect samples, conduct tests, and maintain accurate records.
  • Conduct routine water testing and document all results.
  • Monitor operational equipment, including charts and gauges. Calculate and calibrate chemical feed rates based on laboratory tests and operational instructions.
  • Engage in treatment processes, laboratory analyses, and the upkeep of all plant equipment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all plant records and reports.
  • Assist regulatory representatives during inspections of the facility.
  • Manage and respond to accidental releases of hazardous materials and perform confined space entries as necessary.
  • Maintain logs and data entries related to equipment monitoring and operation.

Work Environment:

  • Employees may be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions, including high temperatures.
  • The noise level in the workplace is generally moderate.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Water and Wastewater Treatment is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in operating electric motors powered by gasoline, diesel, or gaseous fuels, and skilled in using hand tools.
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with team members, management, clients, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols in maintenance and operations.

Certifications:

  • Preferred: SWRCB Grade II or higher Wastewater/Water Treatment Certification as mandated by the facility.
  • A valid California Driver's License is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to communicate effectively.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, sit, and use hands for various tasks.
  • May regularly lift 10-20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include the ability to distinguish colors and maintain close and distance vision.
