Job Title: Organ Donation Coordinator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Organ Donation Coordinator to join our team at Iowa Donor Network. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in maximizing donation and transplantation opportunities while ensuring the highest level of care for our donors and their families.

Responsibilities:

* Gather and accurately assess patient medical records and Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI) to determine suitability for organ donation.
* Recognize and treat pathophysiological effects of brain death.
* Work with multidisciplinary hospital teams to assess, treat, and care for critically ill patients in the ICU.
* Medically manage organ donors to maximize the gift of donation.
* Obtain specimens and coordinate serological and histocompatibility testing.
* Complete post-donor chart submission for quality assurance per defined timelines.
* Collaborate with Family Services and Hospital Services to increase donation.
* Assist with procurement, preservation, packaging, labeling, and shipment of organs.
* Collaborate closely with Iowa Donor Network clinical team members, donor hospital staff, and physicians, transplant center representatives, and other essential stakeholders and partners.

Requirements:

* Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Paramedic/EMT, or prior experience working as a clinical coordinator in another OPO.
* Prior experience and current knowledge of medical/surgical critical care, trauma, or emergency care in the hospital setting required.
* Ability to obtain and maintain an ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification.
* Maintain a valid driver's license and personal auto insurance.
* Bachelor's Degree or Higher, preferred.
* CPTC certification, preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

* Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
* Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
* Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing when representing IDN.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Physical Requirements:

* Must receive required vaccines based on outlined schedules to protect our employees, healthcare personnel, donors, recipients, and families we may come into contact.
* Maintain a current valid driver's license and be insurable through IDN's insurance.
* Respond to call/page within 10 minutes and arrive to office within one hour of call or as assigned.
* Work a rotating on-call schedule with extended hours.
* Lift equipment and supplies weighing 50 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
* Travel to the office and donor hospitals throughout the state of Iowa at any given hour of the day or night.
* Stooping, kneeling, reaching, and handling (seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hands).
* Express ideas verbally and convey detailed or important spoken information.
* Capability to travel by vehicle or plane.
