Your Role in Creating Impact

As a Liability Claims Specialist, you will manage a portfolio of lower-complexity Liability claims from coverage inquiries through legal liability evaluation (when applicable) and quantum analysis, to timely and precise resolution; ensuring mitigation of indemnity and expense exposure while communicating developments and outcomes as necessary to all key internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee key claims handling inquiries; coverage determination, quantum analysis, and legal liability assessment, where appropriate within authority limits, while providing a high standard of customer service.
  • Collaborate with the Team Manager to ensure effective vendor and litigation management on complex claims within a personal allocation.
  • Facilitate internal stakeholder communication as required.
  • Aim for continuous improvement in claim file handling with feedback and support through the Quality Assurance Review processes.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of best practice procedures for Line of Business (LoB) complex claims, consistent with global best practices.
  • Exhibit a basic standard of technical claims competence for managing moderate to lower complexity claims.
  • Handle complex claims allocated within agreed authority limits.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and customer-focused claim resolution, minimizing indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expenses.
  • Effectively communicate key complex claims and LoB portfolio messages to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain financial control through consistent reserve and other financial transaction discipline.
  • Provide accurate and consistent policy interpretation.
Qualifications for Success

  • Basic specialist knowledge in LoB technical claims topics.
  • Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
  • A foundational understanding of legal/regulatory and litigation/procedural requirements for their line of business.
  • Experience in effectively following up on recommendations from technical claims audits and continuous claim handling improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Time management skills to effectively manage and prioritize workload and diary management.
  • Ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
  • Capability to work with claims stakeholders to effectively direct claims strategy.
