San Francisco, California, United States Loft Orbital Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a Head of People Operations to oversee our US People team from Loft's headquarters. As our organization has expanded rapidly, this role is crucial in maintaining our commitment to employee engagement and satisfaction.

In this position, you will collaborate with Loft's people managers to enhance learning, growth, and development initiatives, while creating experiences and programs that empower our teams to excel in their roles.

At Loft, you will find numerous opportunities to make a significant impact. If you are proactive, enthusiastic about driving transformation, and prioritize principles over procedures, this role is tailored for you.

Help us implement the distinctive and vibrant culture our founders have established - we assure you that the journey will be both enjoyable and rewarding.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the VP of People and the EU Director of People Operations to refine and execute our Loft People Strategy, focusing on continuous improvement of our core assets: our organization and employee experience.
  • Act as a partner and advisor to Loft's leaders and managers in the US, addressing strategic and complex People challenges, including organizational design, scaling, retention strategies, leadership development, manager effectiveness, compensation, performance, engagement, and cultural transformation.
  • Guide and mentor leaders and managers through programs and one-on-ones, focusing on team leadership and organization (talent identification/retention, performance success, training, organizational design, leadership development).
  • Champion Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives at both local and global levels.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, including Recruiting, People Operations, and Finance, to design, pilot, and scale impactful and innovative People programs (e.g., performance and talent management, compensation planning).
  • Educate, mentor, and coach People team members where your expertise is required.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on the legal and People implications of leadership and other organizational decisions.

You may find this role appealing if:

  • You possess extensive experience in delivering business partner support and services for Engineering teams, ideally within a fast-paced international environment.
  • You have deep functional expertise in talent management, employee relations, process and program development, organizational development, total rewards, training, and coaching.
  • You are a relationship builder and connector who is passionate about fostering the growth and development of individuals.
  • You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and can create systems, programs, and processes from the ground up.
  • You are self-driven and adept at managing upwards; you know how to present information effectively to obtain the necessary insights.
  • You have experience in developing or contributing to DEI strategies and driving initiatives that lead to meaningful change.
  • You are skilled at problem-solving and managing projects independently as part of a nimble, small People team.
  • You are an effective communicator and active listener who is not hesitant to express your thoughts.

Benefits:
  • Comprehensive dental, medical, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan and equity options.
  • Daily catered lunches.
  • Opportunities for cross-office travel.
  • Generous maternity and paternity leave.
  • Team and company off-sites.

Salary:
$170,000 - $210,000 annually.

We value kind, supportive, and team-oriented collaborators. It is essential that you are a problem solver and an excellent communicator. As our team operates internationally, strong English skills are necessary for effective collaboration and communication of complex ideas.

We appreciate diverse perspectives and encourage applications from individuals who meet our minimum criteria, regardless of whether their experience aligns perfectly with the job description.

About Loft Orbital

Loft Orbital specializes in building "shareable" satellites, providing a streamlined path to orbit for organizations requiring access to space. Our hardware and software solutions enable us to operate satellites, manage customer payloads, and oversee entire missions, significantly reducing the lead time and risk associated with traditional space missions.

Our standard interface allows us to accommodate multiple customer payloads on a single satellite, offering capabilities such as earth imagery, climate data collection, IoT connectivity, in-orbit demonstrations, and national security missions.

Our clients rely on us to manage their space infrastructure, allowing them to focus on their core missions and data collection.

At Loft, you will have the autonomy and ownership to tackle significant challenges, supported by a close-knit and collaborative team. We believe that diversity and community are the cornerstones of an open culture and are committed to hiring the best talent, regardless of background, to ensure that their time at Loft is the most fulfilling period of their careers.

With three satellites currently in orbit and a wave of exciting missions on the horizon, we are rapidly scaling our operations across our offices.
