Environmental, Health, & Safety Program Manager

The EHS Program Manager will be tasked with the development, implementation, and oversight of the company's environmental, health, and safety initiatives. This role includes ensuring adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, in addition to company policies and procedures. The EHS Program Manager will work diligently to mitigate risks and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, illnesses, and deficiencies to determine root causes and necessary corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and continually refine existing EHS programs and associated documentation. Prepare technical reports.
  • Effectively communicate programmatic and procedural updates through various channels, including signage, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Design and facilitate content for regular safety meetings, promoting engagement and maintaining accurate records.
  • Manage an injury reporting database, ensuring compliance through accurate data entry and record maintenance.
  • Represent the EHS department in cross-departmental meetings, relaying information and acting on relevant matters.
  • Create materials and resources to support the successful implementation and ongoing maintenance of safety programs.
  • Stay informed on evolving regulations and EHS trends.
  • Assist in developing and conducting safety orientations for new team members.
  • Collaborate with workers' compensation personnel to manage claims and expedite resolution, utilizing claims management software for data collection.
  • Implement necessary changes across various levels of the organization to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and update training materials and technical documentation.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local occupational health clinics and medical professionals.
  • Organize and execute emergency action drills, updating training and documentation as needed.
  • Generate a variety of metrics and data summaries.
  • Utilize Google Workspace, MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and other relevant software to enhance the efficiency of the EHS Department.
  • Maintain regular reporting for corrective action tracking, following up with departmental leadership to ensure completion.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments, maintaining associated records.
  • Lead the emergency response team.
  • Oversee the company-wide EHS training matrix.
  • Foster professional relationships with all Athletic Brewing team members.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, licenses, and other regulatory documentation.
  • Manage hazardous waste streams effectively.
  • Conduct safety training as required, monitoring and maintaining records in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Compile and report departmental KPIs on a regular basis.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and workers' compensation law.
  • Experience in the brewing industry is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex issues clearly.
  • Proficient in leading cross-functional teams with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to interpret chemical properties and apply them to hazard assessments.
  • Familiarity with regulatory documents and technical standards.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and quick to learn new software platforms.
  • Ability to respond effectively to specialized inquiries.
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to implement strategic EHS initiatives.
  • Experience with document control software is a plus.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Proficient in English, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Possession of relevant professional certifications is preferred.
