The EHS Coordinator will be tasked with the development, execution, and upkeep of the company's environmental, health, and safety initiatives. This role encompasses ensuring adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, alongside internal policies and procedures. The EHS Coordinator will focus on risk reduction and fostering a safety-oriented culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, illnesses, and deficiencies to determine root causes and necessary corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Formulate new and continuously refine existing EHS programs and supporting documentation. Draft technical documents.
  • Effectively communicate departmental programmatic and procedural updates through various channels including signage, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Design and deliver materials for regular safety meetings, encouraging participation and maintaining all related records.
  • Manage an injury reporting database, ensuring accurate entry of injury and illness data for compliance purposes.
  • Participate in cross-departmental meetings to represent the EHS department and appropriately relay or act on information.
  • Create resources and communications to facilitate the successful implementation and maintenance of safety programs.
  • Stay informed on evolving regulations and EHS trends.
  • Assist in developing and conducting safety orientations for new team members.
  • Collaborate with workers' compensation personnel to manage claims and expedite resolution, utilizing claims management software for data gathering.
  • Implement necessary changes across various levels within the company to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and update training materials and technical reports.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local occupational health clinics and medical professionals.
  • Organize and execute emergency action drills, updating training and documentation as needed.
  • Generate a range of metrics and data summaries.
  • Utilize Google Workspace, MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and other relevant software to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the EHS Department.
  • Maintain regular reporting for corrective action tracking and follow up with departmental leadership to ensure resolution.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments, maintaining associated records.
  • Lead the emergency response team.
  • Maintain a comprehensive EHS training matrix for the organization.
  • Foster and maintain professional relationships with all Athletic Brewing team members.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, licenses, and other regulatory documentation.
  • Oversee the management of hazardous waste and its associated streams.
  • Conduct safety training and maintain records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Compile and report departmental KPIs on a regular basis.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and workers' compensation law.
  • Experience in the brewing industry is advantageous but not required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex issues clearly.
  • Technical proficiency and the ability to lead effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to interpret chemical properties and apply them to hazard assessments.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and quick to learn new software platforms.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to implement strategic EHS plans.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
  • Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, CRM, CBCP, or related credentials are preferred.
  • Bi-lingual candidates, particularly in Spanish, are preferred.
