Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Utility Systems Operator II to join our team at Santa Fe County. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing advanced and complex duties in the operation and maintenance of our water and wastewater systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain advanced water and wastewater treatment facilities, including pump stations, treatment plants, and disposal fields.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, such as pumps, generators, and compressors.
  • Conduct chemical water treatment and biological wastewater treatment processes.
  • Monitor and adjust flow rates, operate pumps and controls, and maintain accurate records of activities and events.
  • Perform laboratory testing on water and wastewater samples and interpret results.
  • Interact with technical support staff and provide customer service in the field.
  • Collect water and wastewater samples and maintain accurate shift logs.
  • Monitor and perform operations related to regulatory compliance.
  • Perform housekeeping and cleaning of facilities and maintain inventory of equipment and tools.
  • Operate road machinery and associated equipment used in day-to-day operations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years of training and/or experience in the operation and maintenance of advanced, complex wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Must possess a NM Water Systems Level II or Wastewater Systems Level II certification.
