Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough technical tax reviews and provide approval for all tax returns and complex governmental tax examinations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within your area of expertise.
  • Take full ownership of larger tax returns, delegating tasks to various tax preparers as necessary.
  • Manage client service responsibilities for clients directly worked with or those assigned by the Partner.
  • Oversee and manage governmental tax examinations, representing clients before relevant taxing authorities.
  • Develop a skilled and responsible team by participating in recruitment, performance evaluations, and training initiatives, while also serving as an instructor in professional development programs.
  • Ensure the smooth processing of tax returns through the preparation system, guaranteeing accurate, complete, and timely delivery of all clients' tax returns.
  • Maintain accurate and timely billing and collection processes.
  • Prepare additional reports and projects as requested by partners.
  • Research and assess tax preparation and research software for recommendations to partners.
  • Engage in firm practice development efforts through involvement with referral sources and community and industry activities.
Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of current tax regulations.
  • Proficient in computer-based tax preparation, research, and planning software.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime throughout the year, with significant overtime required during peak tax season.
  • A minimum of seven to ten years of experience in public accounting, showcasing a proven track record in tax complexity, scope, and research.
  • At least two years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
  • A minimum of one year of experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers.
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting is required; a master's degree in taxation is preferred.
  • Completion of a minimum of forty hours of continuing education annually to maintain and enhance technical and business skills.
  • A current and valid CPA license is mandatory.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.
