Financial Operations Manager – Hybrid

As an integral part of the Finance and Accounting team, the Financial Operations Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the management and oversight of general accounting functions across multiple entities in the US and Canada. This position will act as the Assistant Finance lead, providing essential support, analysis, and daily supervision to ensure that accounting records are comprehensive, precise, and compliant with GAAP standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Controllership team in the preparation and issuance of monthly financial reports by generating entries, accruals, preparing reconciliations, and reviewing transactional data for accuracy and completeness in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Conduct variance analysis of monthly financial reports and perform ad hoc analyses as needed.
  • Prepare for annual external audits and assist the Controllership team in coordinating activities to secure an unqualified opinion from the auditing firm.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to Finance and Accounting staff and support their development and mentoring.
  • Lead initiatives for process enhancements within the Finance and Accounting organization.
  • Assist with acquisitions, integrations, and system implementations as required.
  • Engage in cross-company initiatives and special projects as necessary.
  • Serve as a liaison between Finance and Accounting and the sales, account management, and operations departments.
  • Act as the intermediary between US and international locations, including foreign exchange translation, re-valuation, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Support treasury management tasks and responsibilities.
  • Oversee direct reports and mentor indirect reports.
  • Provide guidance to Finance and Accounting team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Success

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience with demonstrated progression into a senior-level Accountant or supervisory/management role.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial acumen, coupled with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with advanced Excel skills.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently to initiate and drive process improvements and enhance efficiencies within the accounting and finance infrastructure.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines and achieve organizational objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the travel or service industry, including familiarity with Agresso, Central Command, Global Max, Globalware, Trams, Travcom, and/or Global Matrix is preferred but not required.
