Role Summary
The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in managing the company's accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, compliance with internal controls, and adherence to established policies. This position is integral to the leadership team and requires a seasoned professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver precise financial reports and analyses as required by the organization or regulatory bodies.
- Oversee debt reporting processes, ensuring compliance with covenants, interest calculations, and maintenance of debt schedules.
- Manage the General Ledger, including month-end closing activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Stay informed about VitalPath's policies, as well as federal and state regulations and current accounting standards.
- Lead cash and debt management activities, including the analysis of debt covenants, cash application, disbursement processes, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity assessments.
- Establish and nurture relationships with banking, insurance, and external accounting professionals to facilitate financial operations.
- Collaborate with Finance leadership to design, implement, and enhance internal controls, procedures, financial reporting systems, analytical reports, and KPIs to drive efficiency and support strategic objectives.
- Prepare documentation for audits, tax submissions, and other compliance-related tasks.
- Provide financial guidance to management regarding short-term and long-term objectives, including inventory management optimization.
- Act as a key contributor in the upcoming ERP implementation, serving as the subject matter expert on financial accounting configurations and reporting.
- Coordinate with other departments to improve financial communication and processes.
- Assist Human Resources with payroll and benefits administration as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, with 4-6 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in Accounting and ERP software, with a preference for Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and/or QuickBooks.
- Experience with system and process implementations, particularly in the context of mergers and acquisitions, is highly desirable.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to weigh costs and benefits of potential actions.
- Excellent time management skills, including the ability to manage the time of others.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate team members to achieve project goals.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, with the capacity to identify complex issues and evaluate options to implement effective solutions.
- Familiarity with the nuances of a multi-entity structure and consolidation processes.
- In-depth knowledge of economic and accounting principles, practices, and financial data reporting is essential.
- Experience in accounting within the manufacturing or medical device sectors is strongly preferred.
