Position Summary

This role encompasses a variety of accounting functions in support of Thrivent Financial within the broader Accounting & Reporting division. The position is integral to the core insurance operations and other corporate functions, requiring a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.

The incumbent will engage in detailed accounting tasks, reporting, and analysis within designated areas, ensuring that daily operations align with established accounting standards and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and document journal entries for financial transactions, maintain ledgers, and generate detailed accounting reports and monthly reconciliations.
  • Develop standard accounting spreadsheets, reports, and statements.
  • Conduct audits, resolve discrepancies, and approve balances to ensure accurate internal and external reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for internal and external audits.
  • Independently implement solutions for less complex issues and recommend enhancements to the accounting system based on accounting principles.
  • Participate in the monthly and quarterly closing processes of key financial systems.
  • Adapt procedures affecting the assigned function and contribute to various project assignments.
  • Gain a foundational understanding of the business functions supported within the department and other broader aspects of Thrivent.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related Microsoft Office applications.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or reporting.

Preferred:

  • Successful completion of the Certified Public Accountant exam.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft general ledger.
  • Familiarity with statutory accounting and reporting.

Compensation and Benefits

Thrivent Financial is committed to attracting and retaining top talent through competitive compensation programs. The salary range for this full-time position is $52,000 to $71,416 annually, influenced by various factors including location, experience, skills, and market demand.

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that may include bonuses, medical, dental, and vision insurance, health savings accounts, retirement plans, paid time off, and other employee benefits.
