Job Overview

Position: Human Resources Generalist
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Compensation: $31 to $45 per hour based on experience


Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with special needs and their families through community engagement. Our finance and administration department is currently seeking a dedicated HR Generalist.


Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the recruitment process by sourcing, interviewing, and hiring qualified candidates for open roles; work closely with department leaders to identify necessary skills and competencies.

• Conduct background checks and verify employee eligibility as part of the hiring process.

• Facilitate new employee orientation and implement employee recognition initiatives.

• Administer various human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, leave management, and performance evaluations; address disciplinary issues and conduct investigations as needed.

• Respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex matters to appropriate personnel.

• Participate in employee disciplinary meetings and terminations.

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; regularly review and update policies to maintain compliance.

• Stay informed about trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources and employment law.

• Track and document compliance with mandatory training and continuing education requirements, including safety and anti-harassment training.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

• High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Proven time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions.

• Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with HRIS systems.


Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

• 2 to 4 years of experience in human resources management is desirable.

• SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.
