Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with special needs and their families through community engagement. We are currently seeking a full-time Human Resources Specialist to join our finance and administration team.


Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct recruitment processes, including interviewing and selecting qualified candidates for various roles; work closely with department heads to identify necessary skills and qualifications.

• Execute background checks and verify employee eligibility as part of the hiring process.

• Organize and implement orientation programs for new hires and employee recognition initiatives.

• Manage routine HR functions, including but not limited to compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Address employment-related inquiries from applicants and staff, escalating complex issues to appropriate personnel.

• Participate in employee disciplinary actions, terminations, and investigations as needed.

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; regularly review policies to maintain compliance.

• Stay informed about trends and best practices in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

• Track and document compliance with mandatory training and professional development requirements.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on negotiation and conflict resolution.

• Highly organized with keen attention to detail.

• Effective time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.

Educational Background and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

• 2 to 4 years of experience in human resources management is desirable.

• Certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR is advantageous.
