Position Overview

The Regional Engineering Supervisor is tasked with ensuring that all products meet customer specifications and maintain structural integrity and superior quality.

This role involves overseeing engineering initiatives and the quality assurance team. The supervisor will assist the sales and production teams in various project phases, including: providing initial engineering support to the estimating team for complex projects, conducting structural designs for precast products, managing the preparation of submittal and production drawings, supervising CAD drafters and quality control technicians, and offering field support as necessary. A focus on the efficient use of raw materials and labor in product design is essential.

Individuals in this role should demonstrate extensive structural knowledge, strong organizational skills, and a keen attention to detail while managing multiple teams and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support engineering and design efforts across multiple facilities
  • Develop, implement, and uphold engineering standards
  • Prepare calculations and drawings to assist the broader team
  • Support the estimating process by reviewing plans and specifications, providing BOM estimates for complex structures as required
  • Guide the drafting team in producing accurate submittal drawings for special structures and production drawings for the plant
  • Create and implement efficiency KPIs for CAD drafters, product designers, and design engineers
  • Set deadlines, objectives, and production standards for the department
  • Manage drafting departments to comply with CAD standards while enhancing drawing efficiency and quality
  • Conduct final reviews of drawings submitted by the drafting team
  • Ensure on-time delivery of engineered drawings and BOMs to meet customer requirements
  • Assist in project management for engineered products
  • Provide support during product production for structural and safety inquiries
  • Deliver technical training to plant personnel regarding products, safety, and processes
  • Investigate new technologies, including AI, to enhance engineering processes
  • Conduct annual quality assurance audits at other facilities
  • Support capital expenditure activities

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineering Certification in Texas and California
  • Willingness to obtain PE certification in additional states as necessary
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics and engineering drawings
  • Experience in metal fabrication or structural steel design is preferred
  • Reinforced concrete design experience is a plus
  • Ability to perform structural analysis and design using SolidWorks
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering License
  • 3+ years of recent experience in construction and/or project management is advantageous
  • Familiarity with software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Microsoft Office, SAP 2000 (or other FEA software), MathCAD, etc.
  • Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
