Key Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership:
  • Actively engage in and lead Lhoist's safety initiatives;
  • Ensure the highest safety standards are integrated into all designs and plans.
Regional Mine Planning:
  • Oversee the formulation of regional mine strategies as required;
  • Guarantee adherence to Lhoist's mine planning protocols across the region;
  • Facilitate training and support for site teams in the implementation of Lhoist standards and tools.
Site-Specific Mine Planning:
  • Direct the Quarry/Mine Mining Team in crafting and executing mine plans and schedules, ensuring timely updates and revisions;
  • Lead the creation and modification of Geological, As-built, QC, and other deposit models;
  • Monitor and document quarry/mine operations' compliance with established plans, identifying issues for future revisions.
Technical Design and Data Analysis:
  • Collect, organize, and analyze diverse data sources (mobile equipment, surveys, cost databases) to derive production and performance insights;
  • Utilize this data to produce safe, technically sound, and economically viable design documents and studies.
Project Management:
  • Guide the development of project scopes and preliminary planning, including design documentation and cost modeling;
  • Lead the CAPEX process through necessary technical and financial assessments;
  • Oversee contractor selection and vetting;
  • Participate in various project team roles as required.
Site Audits and Support:
  • Coordinate and perform regular technical inspections, audits, and collaborative meetings at various sites;
  • Provide on-site technical expertise and assistance as needed to resolve issues.
Additional Duties:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Proficient in CAD software;
  • Experience with GPS surveying tools;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a team;
  • Capable of working in both above-ground and underground mining environments;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call and overtime as necessary;
  • Hands-on approach to tasks and responsibilities;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines;
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite;
  • Ability to lead and collaborate within a team, utilizing informal management techniques;
  • High level of integrity and ability to earn respect across all organizational levels;
  • Quick learner with strong technical and analytical skills;
  • Effective communicator in both formal and informal settings;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond urgently to customer needs;
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision;

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and access all plant locations, including heights and confined spaces;
  • Work in both office and mining environments, with exposure to varying conditions;
  • Occasional travel to regional locations as required.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive technical experience in surface mining; leadership experience is advantageous.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in geology, mining, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
