DelDOT is Offering Recruitment Incentives for Engineers

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) acknowledges the essential role of Engineers in maintaining the integrity and sustainability of the State's infrastructure. To attract talented individuals, we are pleased to offer financial recruitment incentives to new Engineers joining our team.

Incentive Structure

Recruitment incentives are available based on the classification of the position:

  • $4,000 for Engineer I
  • $5,000 for Engineer II
  • $6,000 for Engineer III
  • $7,000 for Engineer IV

These incentives will be disbursed three months after the start date of employment. Candidates accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to a minimum of two consecutive years of service within the Engineer classification series.

Key Responsibilities

This role entails overseeing and managing designated projects and programs, with accountability for the technical decisions made within the department.

Core Duties Include:

  • Creating, developing, and modifying engineering designs, plans, and specifications.
  • Evaluating permit applications, blueprints, and designs to ensure adherence to specifications and regulations.
  • Utilizing scientific and mathematical principles to investigate and resolve technical challenges.
  • Conducting field studies, surveys, and inspections to gather data and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Testing and assessing materials, equipment, systems, and facilities.
  • Coordinating engineering projects effectively.
  • Analyzing and reporting on project statuses and regulatory compliance.
  • Estimating costs for project timelines and materials.
  • Providing technical guidance and training to team members.

Qualifications

Requirements for Engineer Program Manager I (Department of Transportation Only)

Applicants must demonstrate competence in the following areas:

  • Possession of a valid Delaware Professional Engineering License or an equivalent license from another jurisdiction.
  • A minimum of six months of experience as a project engineer in relevant engineering disciplines, including but not limited to:
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Construction Engineering
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Agricultural Engineering
  • Knowledge of staff supervision gained through formal education, training, or practical experience in overseeing the work of others.

Employment Conditions
