Job Overview

The Delaware Solid Waste Authority is looking to hire a qualified Project Engineer for our administrative operations. The compensation for this role will be determined based on the candidate's education, certifications, qualifications, and skills. OBJECTIVE: The selected candidate will oversee the execution of various engineering initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, and manage engineering projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on schedule.
  • Generate technical documentation and perform data analysis utilizing advanced computer techniques.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of projects to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Compile monthly progress reports and associated data for review.
  • Prepare necessary permit applications and communicate with state and federal agencies as required.
  • Lead specific studies and research initiatives related to engineering.
  • Collaborate with local, state, and federal organizations to align project efforts.
  • Draft technical specifications and engineering guidelines for various projects.
  • Ensure quality assurance and oversight for all engineering endeavors.
  • Assist in long-term strategic planning and policy recommendations, including contract negotiations.
  • Represent the Authority at technical forums and act as a liaison with various stakeholders.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the Drone Program and manage related software.
  • Administer the GIS Program and utilize ESRI software.
  • Employ AUTOCAD software for design and planning purposes.
  • May include supervisory responsibilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution is required. A strong project management background is preferred. Compensation will be based on the candidate's education, certifications, qualifications, and skills.

A valid driver's license is mandatory. Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred.

Candidates should possess a solid understanding of engineering principles and practices, research methodologies, and applicable laws and regulations. Skills in statistical analysis and effective communication, both written and verbal, are essential. The ability to conduct field studies and manage teams effectively is also required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, and perform various physical activities, including lifting up to 50 pounds. Candidates must have good vision capabilities, including close and distance vision, as well as depth perception.

Additionally, this position may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings, noise, temperature fluctuations, and potential mechanical hazards.
