Rehabilitation Specialist - Staten Island, NY

Compensation: $80,000 - $85,000 per year

Our commitment to excellence ensures that we deliver outstanding care to individuals aged 3 to 21 years old, collaborating with educational institutions to enhance the well-being of our clients.

Position Summary:

The Rehabilitation Specialist will deliver exceptional occupational therapy services primarily in a clinical environment, dedicating 80% of their time to direct patient care, while the remaining 20% will involve engagement within educational settings. We seek a passionate professional with experience in both domains to support our mission of fostering growth and development in our patients and students.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties (80%):

  • Conduct thorough evaluations to determine patients' occupational therapy requirements.
  • Design and execute personalized treatment strategies aimed at enhancing functional capabilities.
  • Facilitate therapy sessions for individuals facing a variety of challenges, including physical, developmental, and emotional issues.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care to patients.
  • Educate patients and their families on effective methods to improve daily living skills and overall quality of life.
  • Maintain precise and timely records of patient progress and treatment modifications.

Educational Duties (20%):

  • Perform assessments for students referred for occupational therapy services.
  • Collaborate with educators to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Deliver therapy sessions to students, addressing their educational and developmental needs.
  • Modify school environments to enhance students' functional performance.
  • Provide guidance to teachers, parents, and students on strategies to support academic engagement.
  • Track and document students' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution. New graduates are encouraged to apply as long as licensure is in process.
  • Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Preferred experience in both clinical and educational environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Dedication to delivering high-quality care and enhancing patient outcomes.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks as required.
