Key Responsibilities
Under general supervision, you will assess and treat students to promote rehabilitation and independence in daily living skills for those with physical and/or mental challenges. You will also be responsible for delivering therapy in alignment with the Individual Family Service Plan, Individual Education Plan, or Interim Individual Education Plan, adhering to agency policies and regulatory standards. Collaboration with parents and team members is essential.

Primary Duties Include:
  • Conducting evaluations for students referred to the program to determine their learning and performance capabilities, and developing treatment plans to achieve set goals based on their functional levels.
  • Maintaining accurate daily and monthly attendance records.
  • Ensuring that services provided meet the individual needs of students and align with educational objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Selecting appropriate educational, recreational, and social activities to assist students in adapting to their functional levels.
  • Providing in-service training for other staff regarding program techniques and objectives.
  • Participating as a member of an interdisciplinary team during meetings, annual reviews, and case presentations.
  • Documenting progress for all active cases, monitoring therapy status, and making recommendations as necessary.
  • Referring students to additional clinical services when appropriate.
  • Designing and fitting adaptive devices such as splints or braces for student use.
  • Engaging in initial evaluations and intake processes.
  • Completing all required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Providing supervision to Occupational Therapy students and assistants as needed.
  • Maintaining therapy equipment and managing supply orders as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues, students, and their families.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the position.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Analytical skills to assess student conditions and progress, selecting suitable therapy techniques.
  • Willingness to undergo fingerprinting as required by relevant authorities.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year in Occupational Therapy.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy.
Licensure:
  • Valid NYS Occupational Therapy license.
