RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Engineer
  • Evaluation Services Intertek, a prominent provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world’s leading brands and organizations, is actively seeking a Project Engineer to join our Building & Construction Evaluation Services team.
The Building & Construction team delivers assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services along with building science solutions to ensure Total Quality Assurance in the built environment.

This team offers the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry a comprehensive suite of capabilities both in the laboratory and on-site.

Building Products Testing Solutions From code compliance to performance testing to product certification - our commitment is to foster a lasting partnership with our clients.

We empower them to collaborate with a single source to achieve the market access success their products require.

What are we looking for? The Project Engineer is accountable for all facets of code compliance evaluations and guiding clients through every stage of product development, testing, and certification.

The Project Engineer oversees assigned projects from product sampling and witness manufacturing through to the creation of final certification documentation within client budgeted timelines.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct research on building codes and relevant product standards
  • Develop product evaluation strategies based on research findings
  • Assume full responsibility for assigned projects including, but not limited to the following:
  • Communicate with clients regarding building codes, test preparation, procedures, results, and reporting matters
  • Coordinate product testing and inspection requirements; align test schedules with available personnel and equipment
  • Draft test protocols when necessary and secure approvals as required
  • Review and fully comprehend contract requirements and document any deviations; inform clients of additional costs as they arise
  • Assist in the preparation of major proposals through pre-bid meetings and on-site inspections.
  • Conduct necessary research on specialized test projects
  • Prepare and submit precise and concise reports on all assigned projects
  • Perform necessary calculations to support designs and simulations
  • Conduct engineering analysis of product and material performance attributes
  • Evaluate manufacturers’ quality control processes
  • Develop correspondence and reports related to evaluation and conformance assessment of products
  • Assist in all testing areas as assigned
  • Represent Intertek and participate in industry, technical, and standards committee meetings

OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

What it takes to be successful in this role: * B.S.

Degree in Engineering or a closely related field of physical science * Professional license is preferred * Knowledge of construction material characteristics and applications, manufacturing techniques, supply sources, and engineering principles * Familiarity with U.S.

Building Codes and applicable ASTM standards, building design and construction, and modern construction materials and methods * Technical competence to effectively communicate test procedures, specifications, and results with clients while possessing skills in diplomacy conducive to navigating technically challenging compliance issues * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team * Strong research, documentation, record-keeping, and technical writing skills * Capacity to understand and apply new test methods and procedures for assigned projects * Expected to travel as business needs dictate
