Project Superintendent Job Description

We are seeking an experienced construction professional to fill the role of Project Superintendent at McShane Construction Company. As a Project Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of multi-family housing, senior living, student housing, and hospitality projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Coordination: Review working drawings, including architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, electrical, and landscaping plans, to ensure details, buildability, alternative methods, conflicts, and dimensions are accurate.
  • Building Specifications: Verify Building Specifications to confirm material, subcontractor, and equipment criteria and identify potential project document conflicts.
  • Jobsite Management: Maintain and manage the jobsite, including trailer, signage, material staging, vehicle access, and temporary utility access.
  • Project Documentation: Oversee an orderly system for maintaining project plans, communication, correspondence, and subcontracts.
  • Safety and Compliance: Implement safety measures and applicable company programs to conform with OSHA standards and ensure a safe workplace.
  • Client Relationships: Maintain positive relationships with clients, focusing on identifying critical paths to meet desired schedules.
  • Project Inspections: Conduct periodic project inspections, addressing owner concerns.
  • Project Monitoring: Monitor project labor productivity and inform the company of any deviations from original budgets.
  • Material Management: Review project construction documents and identify required material quantities, monitoring actual project material quantity requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance programs and review project shop drawings and construction documents to coordinate between disciplines.
  • Project Completion: Oversee completion of project disciplines necessary to receive a certificate of occupancy.
Requirements:
  • Design/Build Experience: Design/build experience preferred.
  • Carpentry and Concrete Experience: Rough carpentry, finish carpentry, and concrete experience preferred.
  • Education: College education a plus.
  • Construction Knowledge: Knowledge of all aspects of construction, including technology, equipment, methods, etc.
  • Local Market Knowledge: Knowledge of the local market preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership/management skills and a proven record of building on schedule.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify, investigate, and quantify project problems and corresponding alternatives and consequences.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, and work productively with others and foster solid client relationships.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in construction management software, including Procore, Timberline, Bluebeam, CMiC, PlanGrid, Textura, and Field ID.
  • Microsoft Office 365: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
