About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Hawkers Asian Street Food. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for supporting the Executive Chef in achieving our culinary goals and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation, including inventory management, food procurement, and recipe adherence.
  • Ensure that food quality standards are consistently met, and that all kitchen staff are trained and equipped to maintain these standards.
  • Conduct daily pre-service meetings to review menu items, discuss kitchen operations, and address any concerns or issues.
  • Provide feedback to staff on food quality, execution, and presentation, and work with the Executive Chef to develop and implement strategies to improve kitchen performance.
  • Manage kitchen equipment and storage areas to ensure they are clean, well-maintained, and in good working order.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, and storage practices, and train staff on proper procedures.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in meeting or exceeding established sales, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of kitchen staff.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement menu items, specials, and promotions.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Proven track record of improving kitchen efficiency, reducing waste, and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff.
  • Excellent culinary skills, with a deep understanding of food safety, sanitation, and storage practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with a focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
