Behavioral Support Specialist

Compensation: $26.00/hr
The Behavioral Support Specialist is responsible for delivering educational and behavioral assistance to individuals with special needs. This role involves collaboration with educational professionals and behavioral experts to meet specific learning and behavioral objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adheres to directives from the BCBA, educators, and program supervisors.
- Utilizes behavior management strategies, including prevention, intervention, and consequence methods.
- Provides crisis management support as needed.
- Reviews and executes behavior intervention strategies.
- Implements tasks related to behavioral and ABA goals outlined in an IEP under the guidance of an instructor.
- Assists in delivering academic instruction as directed by an educator.
- Supports the implementation of development plans for SLP, OT, and PT.
- Maintains accurate documentation in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Collects and analyzes behavioral and academic data with precision.
- Ensures strict compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Facilitates the development of independent living skills through daily self-care activities.
- Provides support to students in various environments, including classrooms, playgrounds, and sensory rooms.
- Performs additional duties as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of experience working with children.
- Must adhere to all relevant professional standards.
- Completion of Amergis' Competency program is required when applicable.
- Current CPR certification is preferred.
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray may be required.
- Health certificate must be current as per contract or state regulations.
- Must fulfill all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training is necessary.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations is essential.
- Strong communication skills are required to effectively interact with supervisors, colleagues, and clients; proficiency in English is necessary.
- Computer skills are required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
