Behavioral Support Specialist

New Story School is currently in search of a dedicated Behavioral Support Specialist to contribute to the creation of tailored behavioral strategies, track the development of assigned students, and provide behavioral consultation as outlined in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Our institution employs various approaches for student education and related services, including in-person, virtual, and enhanced remote learning environments. Students participating in face-to-face education will engage in traditional classroom settings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate initial and ongoing behavioral strengths and requirements of students according to school assessment protocols and timelines.
- Implement nonviolent crisis intervention techniques when necessary.
- Engage in and contribute to IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and other relevant gatherings.
- Deliver and oversee services as specified in the student's IEP.
- Formulate behavioral objectives for the IEP and Positive Behavior Support Plan under the guidance of a Behavior Analyst.
- Supervise the execution of Positive Behavior Support Plans.
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments as required, under the supervision of a BCBA.
- Create a data collection system for staff to support interventions and modifications, under the direction of a Behavior Analyst.
- Design and instruct individualized behavioral plans that cater to the unique needs of each student and the dynamics of the educational environment.
- Analyze Functional Behavior Assessments and data sheets to develop customized Positive Behavior Support Plans and teaching strategies based on data and input from involved parties.
- Gather and graph behavior data recorded by school personnel for evaluation of behavior plan effectiveness.
- Collaborate with all staff members to assess the effectiveness of Positive Behavior Support Plans and monitor student progress and concerns.
- Revise student behavior plans as necessary.
- Conduct staff training sessions as requested.
- Participate in the employee disciplinary process.
- Monitor employee performance and conduct evaluations.
- Complete various paperwork and reports as directed.
- Travel to different school locations as required.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment.
- Execute all job responsibilities safely and adhere to established safety practices and standards.
- Follow the Exposure Control Plan and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as mandated by the task.
- Uphold student confidentiality in compliance with company policy and FERPA regulations.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Attend and successfully complete all required training and supervision sessions.
- Accurately complete and submit documentation of hours worked in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
