Job Position: Part-Time Educational Support Specialist

Pay Rate: $15.50 Per Hour

Shift: 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM

Position Overview: We are looking for a committed and caring individual to join our team as an Educational Support Specialist. In this role, you will collaborate closely with classroom educators to provide essential support and assistance to students, especially those with unique learning needs or disabilities. This position presents a fulfilling opportunity to positively influence the lives of students and aid in their academic and personal development. A state and federal background check is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the classroom educator in executing lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Provide individualized or small group support to students, including those with personalized education plans (PEPs) or special requirements.
  • Aid students with their assignments, projects, and activities, ensuring comprehension and engagement.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages learning and student achievement.
  • Monitor student progress and behavior, documenting observations as necessary.
  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, and other support personnel to devise and implement strategies for student success.
  • Assist with classroom management and organization, including the upkeep of materials and resources.
  • Provide support during transitions, lunch periods, recess, and other non-instructional times as required.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with children or teenagers in an educational environment preferred.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn about special education principles and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, educators, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere desire to assist students in achieving success.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond to changing priorities.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using educational technology tools preferred.
