Job Description

Job Summary:

The Director of Conservation and Development will lead our organization, ensuring effective management to achieve our mission. This role oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations, balancing organizational management, administrative work, staff supervision, project management, fundraising, budget management, and public relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Vision:
    • Provide leadership to cultivate a shared organizational vision among staff, partners, and the Board of Directors
    • Seek new opportunities and research new program areas
    • Develop and maintain partnerships to leverage resources and expertise
  • Fundraising and Development:
    • Develop fund-raising strategies
    • Write grant and contract proposals
    • Identify potential funders and donors
  • Fiscal and Organizational Management and Administration:
    • Oversee all funding sources (grants, contracts, donations, etc.)
    • Prepare and monitor organizational and project budgets
    • Recruit, onboard, supervise, and evaluate staff
    • Maintain an inclusive work environment which recruits and retains diverse talent
    • Develop, update, and implement organizational policies
    • Oversee management of records and documents to be in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Community and Public Relations:
    • Develop and maintain partnerships with the community, local governments, natural resource agencies, funders, business agents, and program clients
    • Oversee the development and implementation of communication strategies
    • Inform government officials, agencies, organizations, and the general public about natural resource issues and how Glacierland RC&D may be of assistance
  • Board and Staff Relationships:
    • Support the Board by organizing regular meetings
    • Support board member development, coordination, and recruiting

Requirements:

  • A passion for and/or professional background in issues related to the environment and natural resources
  • Demonstrated success with:
    • Non-profit management and governance
    • Effective leadership and management skills
    • Budget development and financial management
    • Employee supervision
    • Grant writing and management
    • Project administration
    • Communication skills
    • Critical thinking skills, possess the ability to problem solve complex situations with limited resources
    • Strong interpersonal skills, possess the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with diverse staff, clients, and partners
    • Proficient with typical professional office software
    • Bachelor's degree (minimum) in business or public administration, natural resource management or related field
    • Ability to work outdoors and traverse variable landscapes in all weather conditions
    • Valid driver's license required; use of personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursement provided)

Work Environment:

This is a full-time, salaried position with a salary range of $55,000 to $65,000, commensurate with experience. Glacierland provides medical benefits. The funding for this position is based on grant and contract funding. The Executive Director is responsible for securing continuing funding.

Location:

This position will be based out of a home office with an opportunity for use of a collaborative workspace or other office space as needed. The Executive Director must be located within the Glacierland RC&D service region.
