Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks a highly qualified Executive Director to lead WIDA, a renowned organization dedicated to supporting multilingual learners and educators. As a key member of the senior management team, the Executive Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization's future and ensuring its continued excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for WIDA's growth and development.
  • Oversee the organization's finances, operations, and day-to-day management.
  • Represent WIDA in national and international forums, promoting its mission and values.
  • Build a culture of trust, equity, and inclusion across the organization.
Leadership Expectations:
  • Provide overall scientific leadership and strategic planning for WIDA.
  • Lead the senior management team and serve as the organization's leading spokesperson.
  • Develop and implement high-functioning decision-making processes and project prioritization.
  • Represent WIDA in national and international forums, promoting its mission and values.
  • Exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, and managing conduct and performance of staff.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in education, linguistics, business, or a related field.
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred.
  • At least 7 years of management experience leading a performance-based organization.
  • Excellent organizational management and coaching skills.
  • Excellent professional judgment and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Leadership experience in PreK-12 domestic education.
  • Knowledge of national education policy and implications for multilingual learner education.
  • Experience with large-scale education-related assessment development and delivery systems.
  • Experience analyzing current research and industry trends to improve organizational products and practices.
  • Experience leading major product releases and enhancements.
  • Willingness to engage in and deepen knowledge of WIDA's Social Justice value.
  • Multilingual or bilingual/biliterate.
