Overview

The Ocean Reef Club is seeking a talented Creative Media & Layout Coordinator to enhance our community publication. This role is pivotal in crafting the visual presentation of our newspaper, ensuring each issue is engaging, well-structured, and effectively conveys the desired message. The Coordinator should possess a strong command of design software, exhibit efficiency, and manage multiple requests and deadlines with ease. There is ample opportunity for creativity and innovation while maintaining the established aesthetic of our community. Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective time management are crucial for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and layout the community newspaper on a weekly basis, including the arrangement of articles, images, advertisements, and other visual components.
  • Collaborate with editors, writers, advertisers, and photographers to gather project requirements and seamlessly integrate content into the layout.
  • Work closely with the Advertising Sales team to update, design, and conceptualize weekly advertisements.
  • Create or modify graphics, illustrations, and other visual elements to enhance the overall design of the publication.
  • Retouch and format all photographic content.
  • Assist in the overall production process, including photo selection, coordination, and supporting the production team with research and fact-checking.
  • Review and proofread layouts to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with brand guidelines.
  • Copyedit and proofread editorial content for accuracy and adherence to style guidelines as necessary.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Prepare files for print production.
  • Coordinate content collection and layout for the weekly community brochure.
  • Support the Communications Department in producing various materials, including posters.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in layout design and production, ideally within a newspaper or publishing environment.
  • Strong graphic design skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is required.
  • Strong eye for typography, composition, and layout.
  • Excellent attention to detail is mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Thorough proofreading skills are necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • An interest in photography is a plus but not required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, journalism, or a related field is preferred.
Language Proficiency

Must be proficient in English to effectively communicate with colleagues and comprehend job assignments.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to meet business needs.

Proper grooming and professional appearance are required at all times, as outlined in the Associates Handbook.

All associates must comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of facilities. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action.
