This posting is intended to fill two positions. One role will encompass the entire state, including metropolitan areas, while the other will focus on specific counties.

Role Summary

The Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for assisting adults in achieving competitive and integrated employment outcomes. This involves planning, authorizing, and coordinating tailored Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services in collaboration with blind, visually impaired, and DeafBlind individuals. The position plays a crucial role in fulfilling the mission of the Workforce Development Unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the case services budget.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to develop an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) in line with applicable laws and policies.
  • Collaborate with clients to implement and finalize an IPE that leads to meaningful employment.
  • Design and deliver personalized placement services to support the consumer's vocational goals.
  • Contribute to the mission of the Workforce Development Unit through various initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

To be considered, applicants must provide a resume that clearly outlines how they meet the qualifications.

Senior Rehabilitation Counselor:

Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, Blind Rehabilitation Teaching, Social Work, Psychology, Disability Studies, Human Resources, Education, Special Education, School Counseling, or a related field.

Career Rehabilitation Counselor:

Master's degree in a relevant field AND three (3) years of experience in counseling, caseload management, rehabilitation planning, customer assessment, and job placement services.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or DeafBlind.

Proficiency in a second language.

Ability to interpret complex information clearly.

Strong analytical skills to assess customer needs effectively.

Experience applying counseling techniques for effective client engagement.

Additional Requirements

Successful candidates will undergo a criminal background check and reference evaluations. A valid driver's license may be required for travel. Applicants must be authorized to work in the country without sponsorship.

This position includes an Adjustment to Blindness immersion training program, providing essential insights into the experiences of individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
