Overview of Responsibilities
The role of a Rehabilitation Counselor is pivotal in supporting individuals in achieving their employment goals. At the State of Minnesota, our workforce is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all residents. This recruitment aims to fill two distinct positions. One will cater to the entire state, including metropolitan areas, while the other will focus on specific counties.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the budget for case services.
- Conduct thorough assessments to develop and prepare an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) in compliance with applicable laws and policies.
- Collaborate with clients to implement and successfully achieve the IPE, leading to meaningful employment.
- Provide tailored placement services to support clients in reaching their vocational rehabilitation objectives.
- Contribute to the mission of the Workforce Development Unit through various initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this position, applicants must clearly outline their qualifications in their resumes.
Senior Rehabilitation Counselor:
A Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
Career Rehabilitation Counselor:
A Master's degree in a relevant field and three years of experience in counseling, caseload management, and job placement services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
- Proficiency in a second language.
- Ability to interpret complex information clearly.
- Experience in applying effective counseling techniques.
Additional Requirements:
Successful candidates will undergo a criminal background check and must be legally authorized to work without sponsorship.
