Highway Construction Supervisor

Southland Holdings LLC is seeking a skilled Highway Construction Supervisor to join our team for a significant heavy civil project. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing and facilitating various roadway construction activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of roadway construction, ensuring a thorough understanding of project plans and specifications, including standard grading operations, pond excavations, subgrade preparations, stabilization, curb pads, layout and controls, Limerock placement, soil cement placement, and basic traffic management operations.
  • Possess a solid understanding of earthwork principles, including excavation requirements, erosion control measures, material compaction, and dewatering techniques.
  • Manage the submittal and review process for shop drawings, ensuring all necessary documentation is approved prior to the commencement of work.
  • Coordinate the sequencing of work and contribute to the development of 3 Week Look-Ahead schedules, communicating updates and impacts to the project schedule with field engineers daily.
  • Schedule subcontractors in alignment with the work plan.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, maintaining compliance with all applicable safety regulations and codes.
  • Proactively identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Supervise work to guarantee compliance with contract documents and uphold quality control standards for both employees and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the heavy civil construction sector.
  • Experience in Earthwork, Underground, Concrete, and Asphalt paving is essential.
  • A background in structures is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and common scheduling software is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and understand contract documents, including drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Experience in conducting Jobsite Progress Meetings.
  • Ability to effectively schedule in-house crews and subcontractors.
  • Competence in performing comprehensive and accurate project take-offs.
  • Familiarity with industry practices, processes, and standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and other legal regulations.
