Job Overview

Southland Holdings is seeking a skilled Roadway Foreman to oversee significant heavy civil projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing roadway operations, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct all aspects of roadway construction, including a thorough understanding of project plans and specifications (FDOT), grading operations, pond excavations, subgrade preparations, and material placements.
  • Possess knowledge of essential earthwork principles, including excavation procedures, erosion control, material compaction, and dewatering methods.
  • Oversee the submittal and review of shop drawings, ensuring all necessary documentation is approved prior to commencing work.
  • Coordinate work sequencing and contribute to 3-week look-ahead schedules, maintaining daily communication with field engineers regarding project updates and scheduling impacts.
  • Schedule and manage subcontractors in alignment with project timelines.
  • Uphold safety standards, ensuring compliance with EGC safety codes and regulations.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues to maintain project momentum.
  • Ensure that all work performed meets the approved contract documents and maintain quality control standards.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the heavy civil construction sector.
  • Experience in Earthwork, Underground, Concrete, and Asphalt paving is essential.
  • Structures experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and common scheduling software is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, including drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in conducting job site progress meetings.
  • Ability to effectively schedule in-house crews and subcontractors.
  • Competence in performing accurate project take-offs.
  • Familiarity with industry practices, processes, and standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and other legal regulations.
