The Senior Highway Engineering Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting Project Managers and Executives by employing advanced engineering methodologies and analyses to guarantee that construction activities adhere to all relevant engineering standards, codes, and specifications. This position involves assisting the Project Manager and Superintendents in the comprehensive management of construction operations while overseeing craft personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple project scopes, ensuring accurate billing, review of shop drawings, quotations, and adherence to cost and quality standards.
  • Direct the procurement of equipment and material deliveries.
  • Coordinate schedules with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to address project challenges in collaboration with superintendents and the Project Manager.
  • Manage contracts and specifications to ensure compliance with client agreements and subcontractor obligations.
  • Facilitate project meetings and disseminate information critical to the successful execution of the project.
  • Coordinate the collection and distribution of technical information between the company and project stakeholders.
  • Identify potential conflicts or delays in the construction timeline, analyze risks, and recommend preventative measures.
  • Oversee project reporting, including cost management, forecasting, monthly billing, cash flow projections, and change order processing.
  • Manage document control processes, including submittal schedules, contract documents, and project record drawings; ensure effective communication with subcontractors and vendors regarding changes in plans or specifications.
  • Review employee and equipment timecards on a daily basis.
  • Ensure compliance with necessary notifications, such as inspections, survey staking, and utility locates.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering Management.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in construction, particularly with major infrastructure projects and DOT clients.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation and project scheduling.
  • Demonstrated motivation and commitment to completing tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and a goal-oriented mindset.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and monitor project activities effectively.
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Primavera P6, CAD, and HeavyJob is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel and relocate as necessary.
